On June 27th, the Senate Parliamentarian weaponized her unelected bureaucratic position to strike provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, including critical language that would have removed suppressors and short-barreled firearms from the NFA tax scheme. However, the fight isn’t over yet! We were successful in inserting language to reduce the NFA transfer tax to $0 and the amendment passed muster with the Senate Parliamentarian.
Though not the full tax repeal it should have been, there is still an opportunity to use well-established precedent to lower the NFA’s unconstitutional excise tax on suppressors and short-barreled firearms to zero dollars.

The NFA is an unjustified tax that should be abolished. ASA will continue to lead the charge to dismantling the law piece by piece until it no longer remains.

ASA will Legalize Suppressor Ownership and Hunting in all 50 states
Since 2011, ASA has helped legalize suppressor ownership in 3 states suppressor hunting in 19. We won’t stop until they’re legal in all 50 states!
